IaaS
Q: Durable VM means that it never could lost its state?
A: We persist the content stored to the OS and Data disks.
Q: Now that full versions of SQL can be installed does this mean we could host our large DB instances on Azure?
A: Yes
Q: Will it be possible to deploy an Active Directory Domain and network multiple VMs together?
A: yes!!!
Q: Is it possible to run Lync Server 2010 in VM role?
A: Sorry this scenario is currently not supported
Q: Is this IaaS or still PaaS, cause my VMs are automatically patched and moved to new nodes, when there is a hardware failure?
A: We have both offerings… Virtual machines is an IaaS solution
Q: Are SharePoint Farms supported?
A: Sorry that scenario is not supported during preview
Q: Can you add other Microsoft products like SQL Server 2012 to your VM with a click of a button, or do you have to upload the install file?
A: The SQL Server 2012 Evaluation Edition image is already in the gallery so you do not need to upload it
Q: Is there going to be Red Hat Enterprise Linux support?
A: Sorry at this time we have no announcements to make about this
Q: How are Virtual Machines Patched? Say I have a SQL Server on a VM, who patches the VM / SQL and when?
A: VMs are not patched by Microsoft directly but you can take advantage of the traditional Microsoft services in the Vm yourself
Q: Is automatic patch management performed on the VMs?
A: no — you own the VM therefore OS on the VM and you need to manage pathes unlike Web and Worker Roles which are patched for you.
Q: REASKING: Is static IP adress supported now, or even on the road map?
A: Thanks for your feedback. This is in our roadmap in the future
Q: why not Redhat VM, can we expect this in near future
A: Sorry we have no announcements about this at this moment
Open Source
Q: Are there plans to allow the provisioning of services such as RavenDB/MySQL without the complexity of doing this from scratch on a vm?
A: Absolutely. we have partnered with cleardb to provide a comprehensive MySQL service for building scalable web solution.
Q: Will Azure support Drupal out-of-the-box
A: Well the great news is that Drupal is supported as it is a powerful PHP CMS — we just don't have a one-click experience.
Q: Can i run databases on SQL server VM larger than 150GB? Are SQL clusters supported?
A: The Data disk in any Vm can be larger than 150GB. Sorry, we do not support clustering at this point
Q: Is data stored within mysql also replicated to three locations?
A: If you use a data disk as we recommend to store the data… yes it is…
Q: Does Azure supports Java Frameworks like Apache Tapestry with Hibernate Daos?
A: Yes! If it runs on Windows or Linux, it runs on Azure.
Q: Will you be able to as easily have web and worker roles for non .NET deployments and outside of VS?
A: Absolutely. You can start php web apps using web role or java apps using worker role using program entrypoint primitives.
Q: Is there an anti-virus software available to secure the farm?
A: You can bring your own Antivirus solution to run on top of your VMs
Microsoft Endpoint Protection for Windows Azure
Q: Any future support for Java Web sites (e.g. JSP)?

InputEndpoint protocol="[http|https|tcp|udp]"
